The Flying Horse Bar and Brewery is proud to announce the launch of its new brewery. We have a new, stainless steel, steam powered, manually operated, 10Hl skidmounted brewhouse. It is a classic single infusion mash brewery with a mash/lauter tun/hot liquor tank and wort kettle combined to make our brewhouse. Roughly translated that means per brew it can produce over 2500 pots of beer! We have a wide variety of beers brewed on sight ranging from the light, refreshing hoppy Whale Ale, through to our thirst quenching aromatic wonder that is our Whoolaston Wheaty down to the dark matter of the world famous Dirty Angel. In addition to this The Flying Horse will be brewing up a storm with seasonal beers, keep an eye on the website for details, or even better, come to the pub and try what we have for you.
 Matthew Doswell-The Flying Horse Brewer
All our beers are made with 100% Australian malt, the finest hops sourced from around the globe, the freshest yeast and of course the purist water that Warrnambool has to offer. All of our beers are made the natural unhurried way – no filtering aids, finings, sugars, additives, preservatives or any other nasties are used. We believe this makes for a better beer. The new brewer to take of the reins at the Horse is food technologist Matt Doswell, hailing from the sunny city of Glasgow, Scotland. He originally studied Pharmacology at Glasgow University where he discovered real ale and decided to pursue something more worthwhile. As a result he graduated from the distinguished ICBD at Heriot Watt in Edinburgh with a BSc in Brewing and Distilling. Since then he has worked for several years for breweries large and small in both Scotland and Australia. Most days you can see Matt busy at work in the brewery strutting around in his gumboots. However full, in-depth brewery tours including tastings are available every Friday at 5pm – or specialty tours can be arranged by appointment. Next time you’re having a beer why not say hello and buy him one?
